Get or renew your ITIN from any state
Your passport never goes to the IRS. It comes to us, we certify it, and it goes back to you. We’re IRS Certified Acceptance Agents, and the whole thing runs on one fifteen-minute video call.
$249 all in. You start without paying anything.
What we promise in writing
- Your passport is never mailed to the IRS.
- It ships back within 24 hours of your video call.
- It travels with signature required, both ways.
- It comes back no matter what, even if a payment is missing.
On your own, your passport goes to the government
There are only two ways to get an ITIN. The difference between them is where your document ends up.
Filing it yourself
You put your original passport in an envelope addressed to the IRS and lose sight of it. It comes back when they finish processing the case — usually seven to eleven weeks, sometimes longer. In the meantime you can’t travel on it or use it as ID. If the package goes missing, replacing it is on you.
With a Certified Acceptance Agent
The IRS authorizes us to see and certify your document ourselves. Your passport arrives, we review it with you on video, we certify it, and it ships back. All the IRS receives is the paperwork saying we saw it. Your passport is away from home for days, not months.
And where you live doesn’t matter
Certified Acceptance Agent authorization comes from the IRS and is good in all 50 states. Us being in Austin changes nothing if you’re in Atlanta, Chicago or Los Angeles — same process, same result.
Can we file your ITIN?
Four questions. If your case can’t be done yet, we tell you exactly what’s missing.
Who is the ITIN for?
Do you have a passport from your country?
It’s the only document that stands on its own.
Have you ever had an ITIN?
Did you have U.S. income this year?
Self-employment, 1099, cash or W-2 — any of it counts.
Your case can be done by mail
From what you’ve told us, you qualify. The next step is a free fifteen-minute call — nothing is paid yet and your passport stays right where it is.
Before you book, scroll down and use the calculator. Your ITIN goes in with a tax return, and in cases like these the usual outcome is owing the IRS. Better you know that now than later.
If we go ahead, the whole thing is $249 in two payments, shipping and your tax return included. The first one comes after the call, not before. Already had your call? Fill in your details here.
A dependent’s ITIN, we go over with you first
It isn’t that we don’t do them: it’s that we can’t give you a price or a yes up front, on purpose. A minor’s passport often can’t be certified, and then original documents have to go to the IRS — or a certified copy from the consulate. Depending on age they also ask for proof of address or school records.
Charging you before we know that would cost you time and money. A call is better.
Renew the passport first — and that part isn’t us
The IRS won’t accept an expired passport as identification. Before filing your ITIN you need to renew it, and that happens at your country’s consulate, not with us and not with the IRS.
What to do: find your nearest consulate and book an appointment for a passport renewal. It usually takes weeks to a couple of months, so it’s worth starting now if you plan to file this coming season.
You might not have to wait, though. A passport is the only document that stands on its own, but the IRS also accepts two documents from its list, one of which has to carry your photo. The ones people use most: your country’s national ID or consular card, a birth certificate, a U.S. driver’s license, a state ID card, or a valid visa.
Not every combination can be certified remotely, so a form can’t settle this one: tell us what you have and we’ll tell you in the same conversation whether it works — you might start this week instead of in two months.
While you’re there: ask for a certified copy of the new passport too. The IRS accepts it the same as the original — and with one, you wouldn’t have to mail us your passport at all.
It can be done without a passport, but it’s a different road
A passport is the only document that stands on its own with the IRS. Without one you’re not out — you need two documents from the list the IRS accepts, and one of the two has to carry your photo.
The ones people use most: your country’s national ID or consular card, a birth certificate, a U.S. driver’s license, a state ID card, a valid visa, or school and medical records for a minor.
Each combination has its own rules and not all of them can be certified remotely, so we can’t promise you a yes up front: you tell us what you have and we tell you in the same conversation whether it works.
The cleanest shortcut: getting a passport from your country’s consulate. One document settles everything, and it’s useful far beyond the ITIN.
Then you don’t need this service — keep your money
If your ITIN is still active, there’s nothing to file and no reason to pay us $249. You use it as is on your tax return.
One thing to watch: an ITIN expires if it goes unused on a return for three years running. If you’ve skipped two, this is the year to file and keep it. And if you’ve since received a Social Security number, don’t renew — the IRS needs to be told so your records get merged.
With no income, your case needs a specific reason
The normal route to an ITIN is requesting it alongside a tax return. With no income there’s no return to attach, so your case has to come in under one of the exceptions the IRS allows.
The common ones: owning an LLC with a reporting obligation, receiving passive income subject to withholding, opening certain accounts, or being the dependent or spouse of someone who does file. Each exception has its own paperwork — usually a letter or a document from whoever is withholding.
It can be done, just not blind over the internet. Tell us why you need the ITIN and we’ll tell you which exception fits.
Live in or near Austin? Then you don’t need any of this: come by the office — 1601 E Slaughter Ln Trlr 50, Austin, TX 78747 — walk-ins welcome, and your passport never leaves your hands. See everything about the ITIN.
How it works, no surprises
Nine steps, and the first three are free. You pay nothing until you know your case can be done.
You tell us about your case
Answer four questions right here, or message us. Nothing is paid yet.
You send a photo of your passport
Just the main page, through a secure link. We look it over and tell you whether your case works — with your document sitting at home and without you having paid a cent.
Free fifteen-minute call
We go through your case, explain the tax return and what you might owe the IRS, and answer anything you want. Still free.
Only now you pay the $99
Knowing your case works and what to expect. That payment puts your prepaid shipping label in the mail, along with the list of what goes in the envelope. Both shipments are on us.
Your passport arrives and we tell you
The moment it’s in our hands you get a message. You don’t have to call and ask whether it made it.
The interview, on video
This is the interview the IRS requires, with your original document in front of us. We fill out Form W-7 with you, live.
Your passport ships back
Within 24 hours of the interview, no matter what. Tracking reaches you by text the moment we drop it off. Your document is never held against a payment.
You pay the $150 and your package goes to the IRS
The last payment goes out with your file: the certification, Form W-7, and your tax return, which is included.
We follow it through to the end
We check in at three weeks, at six, and the day your number arrives. You don’t have to chase us.
Four rules we don’t break
Mailing your passport to people you’ve never met is a lot to ask. These are the rules we work by, written down so you can hold us to them.
Your passport always comes back
Even if a payment is late, even if you change your mind halfway. The only thing that stops in that case is the shipment to the IRS. Your document is not collateral and we will never hold it.
Under 24 hours
It ships back the same day as your video call, or the next at the latest. And the tracking reaches you when we drop it off, not when we get around to it.
Signature required, both ways
Both shipments carry tracking and a required signature. Nobody leaves your envelope sitting at a door — a person signs for it, here and there.
What we won’t promise you
That the shipment is insured. Passport insurance doesn’t exist in the mail, and anyone telling you otherwise is doing it to close the sale. Tracking, signature and speed do exist — and on those we commit.
Don’t want to mail your passport at all — signature or no signature?
There’s an alternative the IRS accepts just the same: a certified copy of your passport, issued by your country’s consulate. It carries the same weight as the original for this process, and you can mail it without worrying, because it isn’t your travel document.
How to ask for one, specifically: find your nearest consulate and book an appointment. When you get there, ask for a certified copy of your passport — some consulates call it an attested or authenticated copy. It has to carry the consulate’s seal and signature on the copy of your photo page. It’s usually inexpensive and many consulates do it the same day.
With that paper in hand the rest is identical: you mail it to us, we use it to certify your identity with the IRS, and your passport stays home. If your consulate is far away or tells you something different from what you read here, we’ll sort it out on your free call.
Your ITIN comes with a tax return — and owing is the usual outcome
We’d rather tell you now and lose the sale than have you find out once you’ve already mailed us your passport.
An ITIN is almost always filed together with a tax return. That return can come back as a refund… but if you worked for yourself and nobody withheld anything during the year, owing is the normal result. It isn’t about having an ITIN: self-employment tax simply gets paid in full at the end.
Whatever your return comes out to does not change the price of this service, and it isn’t ours to decide. That’s why the calculator comes before we charge you anything.
Will you owe or get a refund?
Work it out before you decide anything. Takes seconds, and we do not even ask your name.
This runs inside your phone. Nothing is sent, nothing is stored, and none of it reaches us.
Tell us how you were paid and your estimate shows up here.
This is an estimate, not your return. It uses 2026 federal rules and leaves out state tax, other kinds of income, and special situations. Your real number comes out when we go through your documents. It is here for one reason: so you know roughly what to expect before you start.
One price, two payments, nothing up front
Same price for a first ITIN and for a renewal — by mail, what costs money is your document travelling, and that’s identical either way. The first payment comes after your free call.
After your call
Paid after we’ve looked at the photo of your passport and talked on video — never before. By then you know your case works and what you might owe the IRS. This payment puts your prepaid label in the mail and covers both shipments.
Book my free callWith the IRS shipment
Goes out with your file to the IRS, once the interview is done and your passport has already shipped back. Total: $249 — shipping and tax return included.
Your tax return
A first ITIN nearly always comes with a return, and yours is already inside the $249. Not quoted separately, and not a surprise at the end. See how we prepare taxes.
